(In our family room, a winter screensaver on, reading Matthew 6.) |
(This week my church family is slow-cooking in the Sermon on the Mount - Matthew 5, 6, & 7. I just sent them this message.)
Good morning Redeemer family!
Last night I read Matthew chapter 5, and part of chapter 6. I stopped at the Lord's Prayer.
I'm beginning there this morning.
I like to read slow. Sometimes I stop and meditate on a verse. Biblical meditation is repeating a thought about God, words of Jesus, a piece of Scripture, over and over and over again. I have the sense that God tells me, "John, there is something for you here, in this verse." I stop. I stay on that verse. Sometimes this lasts for days, as I write it on a 3X5 card and carry it with me. I have been doing this for over forty years!
Redeemer family - let's take this week and spend time in Matthew 5, 6, and 7.
I pray the heavens will open, and we shall know and see things that are God's Kingdom realities.
Love,
PJ
