How long should a Sunday morning church gathering be?
That is the wrong question.
When the church gathers, it is not about "length," but about "led."
It's all about God and his presence. It's about following the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Forget "length." The "how long" question is about method. Focus on discernment + obedience. Do what the Spirit says. Follow as the Spirit guides. This is about relationship. How long the gathering goes on is irrelevant to relationship.
This is a different paradigm. Within the different paradigm, the questions are different. Instead of "How long should the "service" be?", or "What will the visitors think?", the questions become "What is the Spirit saying to us?", and "How is God guiding us?"
I go into more detail in my book Leading the Presence-Driven Church.
