A humble heart is a necessary precondition for hearing God. Humility opens the heart’s door and invites God in.
To be humble is to be teachable. God speaks to the teachable. Humble people “have ears to hear.”
Psalm 25:9 says that God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
Humility is needed to pray, since conversational prayer requires listening, and to really listen we must be humble.
God does not guide a proud person since they are, by logical extension, unguidable. They have deaf ears.
How important is humility when it comes to the desire to hear from God? The answer is: without it, you won’t.
