Currently Reading...
I am currently reading and recommend...
Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This is a sad and beautiful book; sad, because I am taken deeper into black hyper-consciousness than ever before; beautiful, in literary depth and feeling. This is must reading.
The Happiness Industry: How Government and Big Business Sold Us Well-Being, by William Davies. On our American obsession with "happiness," how it is rooted in the utilitarianism of Jeremy Bentham, and how it is money-driven.
Knowledge and Christian Belief, by Alvin Plantinga. One of the world's greatest analytic philosophers shows how Christian theism is rational, how no defeaters to this are available, and (among other things) how the so-called "science vs. faith" issue is woefully misunderstood and misrepresented.
Truth Overruled: The Future of Marriage and Religious Freedom, by Ryan Anderson. This is the best book written on the Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage. On how "4 nonelected lawyers" changed the definition of "marriage" and galloped into the future leaving reason and the Constitution behind.
Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis, by Robert Putnam. By the author of the celebrated Bowling Alone, this book will tell you why your child will not achieve the "American Dream."
Isis: The State of Terror, by Jessica Stern and J.M. Berger. The best book available on understanding what makes this movement tick.
A Path Appears: Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity, by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl Wudunn. An excellent book of testimonies, resources, and wisdom for all who want to give their lives to helping and serving others.
