Paul Vitz on the Psychology of Atheism (and an autistic interpretation of atheism)
This morning I'm beginning to read NYU psychologist Paul Vitz's Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism.
This is a new edition presenting Vitz's ongoing research into the atheistic personality.
One of the new areas is this: "Quite recently, the mental life of the autistic personality has been conceptualized in a way surprisingly applicable to the problem of interpreting the psychology of atheism." (xv) Vitz's Chapter 6 - "Atheism and Autism: A Further Extension of the Theory" - deals with this.
Very interesting!
