How can I learn to listen to God, to hear God's voice, as I pray? Richard Foster's counsel on this is excellent. He writes:
"I suggest you begin with one verse from the Bible. Say, Psalm 23:1: "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want." Read it over prayerfully two or three times and then wait quietly, listening for anything the Lord may want to teach you or any experience God may desire to give you. It is quite straightforward, really. We are simply learning to develop a conversational relationship with talking with God and God talking with us." (Richard J.
