By "God" we mean: an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving, necessarily existent personal agent who created all that is and sustains all that is.
This Being wants to meet with you. You'd be either a fool or an unbeliever not to meet with him regularly.
Those who truly believe get alone with God and dialogue. They are met by God in various ways.
Former Harvard and Yale psychologist Henri Nouwen writes:
"If we truly believe that God not only exists but also is actively present in our lives - healing, teaching, and guiding - we need to set aside a time and space to give God our undivided attention. Jesus says, 'Go to your private room and, when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in that secret place.'"
